Office SMS Sync is an internal tool provided by the accounting firm that operates flow.izid.io ("the Firm") to its own authorized employees. It lets an employee forward selected incoming SMS messages from their work phone into the Firm's internal system, so business messages are handled alongside the Firm's other customer conversations. It is not intended for the general public.
After signing in, the employee chooses one of four settings:
| Setting | What is transferred |
|---|---|
| Off (the default) | Nothing. This is the state of a freshly installed app. |
| All messages | Every incoming SMS. |
| Only from specific numbers | Only messages whose sender matches a number the employee listed. |
| Only containing a word | Only messages whose text contains a term the employee listed. |
The rules are evaluated on the phone. Non-matching messages never leave the device. The rules are also stored on the Firm's server so they survive reinstalling the app, and are re-applied there when a message is received, so that a message the employee's current rules exclude cannot be accepted.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| The sender's phone number or sender ID | To attach the message to the right customer conversation. |
| The message text | It is the content being forwarded; this is the purpose of the app. |
| The time the message was received | To place it correctly in the conversation. |
| A device identifier generated by the app, and the app version | To group uploads from one phone and to diagnose sync problems. |
| Your sign-in token | Held in the phone's encrypted storage to authenticate requests to the Firm's server. |
| Permission | Reason |
|---|---|
RECEIVE_SMS | To see an incoming SMS at the moment it arrives, so a matching business message can be forwarded promptly. |
READ_SMS | To re-read recent messages from the system inbox during the periodic catch-up, which recovers messages missed while the device was offline or restarting, and reassembles multi-part messages. |
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | To upload matching messages to the Firm's server. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC, WAKE_LOCK | To keep the upload queue alive so a message is not lost when the device sleeps. |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | To resume syncing after the phone restarts. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Android 13+ requires this to display the sync status notification. |
All data is sent only to the Firm's own server at https://flow.izid.io, over HTTPS. No other destination receives any data from this app.
Transferred messages are retained in the Firm's system as part of its business records. An employee can stop syncing at any time from the app's settings, either by pausing it or by withdrawing consent entirely; withdrawing consent also resets the rules, so syncing cannot silently resume later. To request deletion of messages already transferred, or deletion of your account, contact the Firm at the address below and the request will be actioned within 30 days.
This app is issued to employees of the Firm and is not directed at children.
